What impact has the NWTF made in New Jersey?
The NWTF has been a leading force for wildlife conservation and the preservation of our hunting heritage in New Jersey. Every chapter banquet directly fuels that mission — funds raised through membership and ticket sales support habitat projects, hunter education, and conservation programs that keep our wild turkey populations thriving for generations to come. Your attendance makes all the difference.
Other Notable New Jersey Achievements
Public Land Wildlife Opening Seed Program
New Jersey NWTF provided $5,601 in seed for planting wildlife openings on public land across the state. Seed varieties focused on annual grains such as sorghum, sunflower, buckwheat and millet, plus perennials such as white and ladino clovers and chicory. Plantings improved over 152 acres of wildlife openings across the state in 2025.
Forests and Flocks Commitment
New Jersey has committed $30,000 to the Forest and Flocks Initiative, with $25,000 designated for the Northeast Endowed Professorship to support wild turkey research in perpetuity.
WITO Goose Camp
The New Jersey Women in the Outdoors partnered with local guide service, Drakes Waterfowl Guide, to host a mentored WITO Goose Camp in Bordentown. Over two-and-a-half days, 20 ladies received workshops on calling, safety in the blind, decoy setup and more, followed by two days of goose hunting.
Wild Turkey Disease Testing
New Jersey NWTF provided $6,930 toward wild turkey disease testing as part of the ongoing wild turkey research project with the Division of Fish and Wildlife. Blood and fecal samples were collected at the time of capture and analyzed for parasites and diseases such as blackhead and lymphoproliferative disease virus.
