What impact has the NWTF made in Kansas?
The NWTF has been a leading force for wildlife conservation and the preservation of our hunting heritage in Kansas. Every chapter banquet directly fuels that mission — funds raised through membership and ticket sales support habitat projects, hunter education, and conservation programs that keep our wild turkey populations thriving for generations to come. Your attendance makes all the difference.
Other Notable Kansas Achievements
Kansans for Conservation Coalition
NWTF Kansas is a proud member of the Kansans for Conservation Coalition, a group of conservation, agriculture and outdoor organizations working together to establish a dedicated state funding source for conservation. The coalition’s efforts aim to secure long-term support for wildlife habitat, clean water, soil health and outdoor recreation opportunities for future generations of Kansans.
WMA Habitat and Prescribed Fire Projects
NWTF and its partners allocated $36,500 to projects on Jamestown, Webster and Lovewell WMAs, as well as for habitat improvement equipment. These efforts supported invasive species removal and the reintroduction of prescribed fire on nearly 2,300 acres, helping restore healthy habitat for wild turkeys and other wildlife.
Kansas State University Wild Turkey Research
The Kansas State Chapter dedicated $22,500 to wild turkey research at Kansas State University, supporting projects such as toxicology lab analyses and a study on wild turkey diets and foraging ecology.
Waterways for Wildlife Investment
The Kansas State Chapter invested in NWTF’s Waterways for Wildlife Initiative, which has already impacted 1,137 acres across the state since 2022. Through an investment of over $4 million with partners, projects have focused on removing invasive species such as eastern red cedar, salt cedar and Russian olive, while also supporting land acquisitions to revitalize Kansas riparian ecosystems and increase hunter access.
Mission-related Outreach Funding
NWTF Kansas funded more than $16,000 in 2025 to support mission-related activities including Central Kansas District 4H, Ellis County 4H and Meade County 4H projects, JAKES, Wheelin’ Sportsmen and WITO events, the Kansas state scholarship, law enforcement support, JAKES trailer maintenance, Kansas Natural Resources Conference sponsorship and more.
